8Asians.com: A review of Lust, Caution

Funny, I just saw Lust, Caution last week. I would agree that the film is not as bad as the reviews, but it is a very long movie. I think the most interesting part of the film is seeing Shanghai in the 1940s and getting the feel of the times for this period piece.

There are several "pornographic scenes" which go on for too long. If they were shorten, I think the viewer would still get the sense of how the relationship develops from something that is more sexual to something that is more emotional.

However, Lust, Caution is definitely not Ang Lee's best work. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon; Eat, Drink, Man, Woman; Brokeback Mountain, etc.. I think were all better than Lust, Caution.

Yes, Tang Wei is really cute, but I'll take Zhang Ziyi over her any day :-)
