i just went through the survey. but there's no mention of Instead Softcup! (www.softcup.com). aiya! what a shocking omission. but i think it's an interesting & Very Worthy study.
still, i was surprised that the survey asks only about whether or not the mother figure worked in the medical field, and doesn't ask about a father at all and whether or not he worked in the medical field---study seems to assume a father's role is always irrelevant. even in situations where the father never discusses menstruation with his daughter, i could still see how his line of work could have a strong impact; conversely, i could also see how a mother working in the medical field would not necessarily be relevant to the daughter 's comfort or lack thereof using sanitary products (which is certainly true in my case-my mother worked in medical field, and still does, but we never discussed that topic), but the line of questioning might insinuate a connection where there is none.
i was also intrigued by one of the possible answers to question #25, in reference to how the survey filler-outer first learned how to use a tampon:
25. How did they teach you?( Check all that apply) Talked me through it Diagram/picture/drawing Showed me Put it in for me Other (Please Specify)
"Put it in for me"? wow. that is some hands-on instruction. although of course i realize there could be certain circumstances that would call for that kind of guidance.
